About Fiona

Fiona Ballard grew up in Hampshire, Dorset and Malaysia before combining motherhood with a successful NHS career. The creative writing journey began in 2019 with a gift of an entry for a short story competition. 

To date she has had three short stories published in anthologies. A semi-autobiography:Taking The Bandage. Four short stories in The Wedding Dress. Followed by an adult Mystery/Drama Look Both Ways published in 2022. A second adult novel Inscription was released in January 2024.

Fiona belongs to the Portsmouth Authors Collective an eclectic mix of local authors. The Collective offers training, and support in addition to promotional & sales events to get involved in.

Married for forty years, Fiona has two married sons, and one delightful grandchild. Life experiences have contributed significantly to the depth and substance of her writing.

In between writing stories, she enjoys travelling, swimming, cookery, dog walking, and singing in a local community choir.
